AUTHOR INTERVIEW

What drew you to writing historical romance?

I suppose it all started when I was reading fairytales as a child. From there I just fell in love with history.

What is your favourite era and why?

The Dark Ages and the Medieval period. I find the history of the time fascinating and love the dark myths and heroic tales.

Why will I fall desperately and madly in love with your hero?

Maras is not only a rain spirit but he is an outcast. He keeps away from humanity because he knows from experience that they will betray and try to kill him. He is a loner and as wild as the storm but Nuri breaks through his defences and discovers a vulnerable heart.

What was the most interesting thing you learned while researching your book?

I enjoyed the research a lot. Although it is a fantasy it is set against a 12th background. So I was able to look into life in a medieval village, the Church, and medieval paints, dyes and painting techniques.

Is there an era you would love to try to write but haven’t yet had the time (or possibly the bravery)?

I’m toying with two different sorts of stories. One is set in the 1920’s and the other is a dystopian tale. They are a bit of a leap as I usually write medieval or Victorian era romances.

Do you check facts as you go or do you have all the research done before you start writing?

Both, I do a lot of research before I start writing and then add to it as I go.

Mr Darcy, Mr Knightly, Colonel Brandon or someone else?

Mr Darcy – I fell in love with him when I was fifteen.

Kilts or Cravats?

Why can’t I have both?

Tudors or Stuarts?

Neither – I’ll stick with the Plantagenets. ;)
